In the second “Sensorship” article, we looked at the analog coolant temperature sensor. The PCM uses the coolant temperature sensor to determine how cold (or hot) the engine is. This information helps the PCM calculate the amount of additional enrichment required to make the engine run smoothly and efficiently as it makes the transition from cold to warm to normal operating temperature.
