Five years ago, airbag-equipped vehicles made up just 10 percent of the U.S. vehicle fleet. According to National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA) statistics, airbag-equipped vehicles on the road today represent approximately 41 percent of all cars (51 million vehicles) and 33 percent of all light trucks (24 million vehicles).
