The highest figure I’ve seen for the total number on the roads is 600, including many in the hands of movie stars and other people so aptly described by Victor Wouk, an early pioneer of the hybrid vehicle, as “Greens with plenty of green.” If we discount people who collect ‘zero-emission’ electric cars as crypto-political fashion statements, the real number is far below the number of 1905 curved-dash Oldsmobiles, Ford Model T’s and bathtub Hudsons in daily use.
