This begins several articles we’ll do about independent training services – training, that is, with no direct connection to and no dependence upon any carmaker, toolmaker, parts manufacturer or reference information provider. These trainers are individual people and small companies whose product is the training they do, whose training is not ancillary to some other product that is their real business. Obviously, parts, tools and carmakers will orient their training specific to their retail customers’ needs. It’s often brand-specific or (sensibly enough) oriented only to the kinds of equipment the provider offers – you wouldn’t expect an ignition parts company to tell you about water pumps. The independent trainers can focus entirely on helping you learn the best ways to solve driveability problems and fix cars the first time, and let all the other cards fall where they may.
